27.10.2002 - Vanja Grut Johnsen Sexcafé with Suzi Godson Suzi Godson launched her book The Sex Book in Oslo 26th of October. The Norwegian translation of the book (Sexboka) is the first non-English version published. The book is now out in the UK, Australia and Norway, and it will soon be in 13 languages. It was very fun for me to finally meet Suzi Godson who has written the book I and Hilde spent some hectic months this spring translating.
The journalist who spoke with Suzi wondered whether anyone would dear to put the book in the bookshelves in their living room, as it does stick out with its pink cover. - If you have an open mind about your sexuality you should keep the book visual so that your friends that come visit could take a look at it, Suzi Godson responded. Suzi Godson is a journalist and a graphic designer and has designed the book her self. She thinks it's an advantage to visualise the book when you write. She wanted the book to be visual and easy to read. The illustrations in the book are drawings made from photos of porn actors. Suzi gathered several porn actors that had never met before in her own flat. They had sex in front of the camera in her own living room. It was the German illustrator Peter Stemmler that took the photos and made the drawings in pop-art style. Running in sidebars throughout the book are quotes from real people with real sex lives taken from the Internet. Suzi doesn't think she would have got honest answers to her questions if she would have interviewed people face to face.
		When I spoke to Suzi after the interview she told me that she had had positive comments from Norwegian journalists on the Norwegian translation. She asked me if I had translated all the words into Norwegian, especially the fetish list. And I had to admit that some of the fetish words were impossible to find a Norwegian word to, but I tried my best. She signed my book with this comment: "To Vanja. Thank you so much for all your help and the brilliant translation. I love all the little ø's."
